Monday Moodboard: End Table

Monday Moodboard: Jade Tiger End Table Styleboard

Happy Monday. Something a bit glam, elegant, and just a touch exotic with the animal print pillow. The jade colored lamp adds just a dash of color to a very modern end table and a few decorative items. Tie in the rest of the room with abstract black and gold and some pillows for a modern, elegant look.

Moodboard Monday: Think Spring

Spring Inspired Bedroom

After the first real spring weekend, so far, it has got my mind filled with flowers, birds, and sunshine. Florals and animal print seem to be those pattern that you either love or hate. I think they can be used pretty much anywhere as long as you remember to use with some restraint. You don’t want your room to look like Mother nature took over your room, but florals are great way to brighten up a room for spring. What says Spring more than flowers.

Floral bedding and art give a fresh bedroom look for spring

A floral and hummingbird duvet adds a spring-like feel to the room, which is much needed after the grey and cold winter. A few bright floral abstracts and the rooms has a fresh new look. If florals are too much, add a light blue or green duvet with  a few floral shams or pillows instead. Still have a floral, but in a more subtle way.

Monday Moodboard: Outdoor Rooms

Outdoor Living Spaces

According to the calendar it is Spring, yet here in the Midwest it looks like Winter. Saturday Mother Nature decided to gift us a few inches of snow, so instead of Spring tulips we have a Winter wonderland in white. I’m sure it won’t last with the temperatures warming up. Getting my outdoor spaces ready for the warmer weather is on my mind, despite what it looks like outside.

You can have an outdoor living space even with just a small balcony. A small bistro set, some decor, and of course some live plants create a place to relax and rewind during the spring and summer months.

A Moroccan inspired small outdoor balcony in shades of blue, teal, and turquoise.

I am including a new design package to my list of services on April 1st. This will be an outdoor room, patio, or other seasonal use space. It will include the Styleboard, renderings, and floor plan like my other packages, but will focus on the outdoor spaces.

If you need some decorating ideas for any season or holiday I have a design package for that. Decorating any room with holiday or seasonal décor that mixes with your existing color scheme and furniture. Check it out here.

Monday Moodboard: Easter Mantel and Tablescape

Blue and White Easter Décor

I love bunnies they are just so cute and I’ve had pet dwarf bunnies for many years. Right now my personal Easter bunny is Dusty Bunny Tails, he looks like a dust bunny, fuzzy and hairy. Easter is fast approaching and it’s time to add some holiday décor around the house. Using bunnies and other Easter associated animals can come across as precious and too childlike when decorating for this holiday.

Easter blue and white decor

I like my living room and dining room to look more sophisticated and adult. To do this have the bunnies figures in a solid color with no painted details and in a metal or carved texture. Have a color palette that is less pastel, like the above moodboard with a color palette if blues and ivory. If your homes color palette is neutral adding a single color will make it pop and add a festive color for the holiday. Just add a few bunnies or other Easter themed décor, less is more in this case, to get that holiday feel.

Farmhouse Style Dining Room

Farmhouse is still going strong with clients. Look on Pinterest and you may see many pins in your feed featuring some kind of room done in a farmhouse style. I think it is  popular style because of it’s relaxed, lived-in look. Nothing fussy and  precious  so it is a great style for families. If an items get a little more distressed and patina as it is lived with so much the better.

This moodboard was one I did for a client in British Columbia. She has an old farmhouse so the farmhouse look fit the house and the owner’s style very well.

Valentine’s Day Inspired Bedroom

A bedroom inspired by the clients subway art and color scheme of pink, red, and white. The client’s subway art has a list of romantic phrases and words (bottom left on the concept). So added art that had hearts and love as the subject, white bedding, and a few accents in red and pink. The white and silver keep it from feeling like you stepped into a Valentine’s day card.

Romantic modern bedroom concept When using themes in adult spaces, especially ones that can become too whimsical and precious, have just a few accessories with the theme’s subject. If the colors of the theme are bold, having a neutral palette with the bolder colors as accents will keep the room welcoming and inviting without overwhelming. The theme is clearly hearts and love, but tastefully done.
